International Desk: A residential building has collapsed in the northern city of Aleppo, Syria. 16 people were killed. Meanwhile, it is feared that many others are trapped under the rubble. Syrian rescue workers are conducting operations to rescue them.
This incident of building collapse happened in Sheikh Maqsood district of Aleppo on Sunday (January 22). According to the country's official media, Aleppo is the second largest city in Syria. A five-storey building collapsed in Sheikh Maqsood district there.
Government officials said the foundation of the building was weakened due to water leakage. Six years ago, the country's rebels lost control of Aleppo after massive bombings by Russia and Syria. Several buildings in Aleppo have collapsed in the past few years as many of the city's buildings were damaged in the attack.
