News desk: 1 thousand 667 students of Chittagong did not join the college in the result of the first stage of 11th admission despite getting GPA-5 in SSC. Most of them are students with highest GPA from science department. Those concerned say that the students are not getting admission in the first stage as there are no seats in the colleges they have chosen.

This time 18 thousand 688 students got GPA-5 in SSC in Chittagong Education Board. Among them there are more than 14,500 science department students.

The result of the first stage of admission to XI was published on the evening of December 31. It can be seen that out of total 18 thousand 688 students who obtained maximum GPA-5, 18 thousand 486 students applied for admission in colleges under Chittagong Board. Out of this 16 thousand 819 have been selected for admission in the first stage. However, 1,667 students with the highest GPA did not get the college in the first stage list for admission. Among the applicants in Chittagong, about 14 thousand students did not get placed in the first list.

According to the information of Inter Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee, 1 lakh 32 thousand 195 students of Chittagong applied online for admission in colleges under Chittagong Education Board. Out of this, 1 lakh 18 thousand 358 people were selected in the first list. 13 thousand 837 students applied but did not get the college in the first list.

They have to wait till January 12 to get nomination for admission as they do not get the college in the first list. On that day, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee will announce the results of the second phase of admission to Class XI. Before this, these students have to re-apply in the 2nd round between January 9 and 10. But in the 2nd phase they will not have to pay any application fee.

In this regard, Chittagong Education Board's College Inspector Prof. Jahedul Haque said that there is a maximum of ten colleges for admission in eleventh. But many students with GPA-5 did not give more than 5-6 colleges in choice. They thought that if they applied to 5-6 colleges, their names would come up. But the colleges to which they applied may have had more applicants with higher marks than them. That's why those who didn't choose more than 5-6 colleges, didn't get a chance in even one of them. But if you applied to ten colleges, this problem might not have happened.

He said, "We have repeatedly requested the students-parents to apply with the maximum number of college choices during the application for admission to XI. But many did not. This is also due to overconfidence. That's why despite having the highest GPA, they are not nominated in any college for admission in the first stage result.

The college inspector said that these students have no problem in getting college, they can get admission. Because the number of applicants is less than the total number of seats in the colleges of Chittagong. Due to which there will be no shortage of seats in Chittagong as a whole. However, they may not get the college they are most interested in getting into. Those who are not nominated in the first list, they have the opportunity to get nominated in the next list.

According to the information of the college branch of the Chittagong Education Board, 281 colleges under the Chittagong Board have been approved to admit students in class 11. The total number of seats in these approved colleges is 1 lakh 73 thousand 717. On the contrary, 1 lakh 32 thousand 195 people have applied for admission in the colleges under the board. As such, there will be no shortage of seats for admission to XI. On the contrary, more than 40,000 seats will remain vacant.
