Ambassador ITO Naoki attended the opening ceremony of the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ)

Newsdesk: On December 6, Ambassador ITO Naoki attended the opening ceremony of the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ) in Araihazar. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also attended the ceremony online as the Chief Guest. Mr. Shaikh Yusuf Harun, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and Mr. HYODO Masayuki, President and CEO of Sumitomo Corporation, were also present.

Ambassador ITO mentioned in his speech, “As BSEZ fully meets the international standard in terms of facilities and infrastructure SEZ has to offer, it will undoubtedly attract investment not only from Japanese company but also from other international companies. I am sure it will play a pivotal role in boosting FDIs and become a symbol of the growing business partnership between Japan and Bangladesh.”.

HPM Sheikh Hasina said, "Japan is the biggest development partner for Bangladesh and we thank Japan for its various supports including BSEZ. Bangladesh is the most ideal place for investment in the world as we have offered maximum investment opportunities. I hope overseas investment will come here and local people, especially young entrepreneurs, will also invest in their own country." .

BSEZ was constructed with yen loan and is Bangladesh's first international standard SEZ constructed by Japanese companies. It is expected to boost investment from Japanese as well as international companies and play a significant role in leading the economic development of Bangladesh.
