Diplomatic Correspondent: Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Bangladesh, H.E. Listyowati, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh’s Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, H.E. Ms. Afroza Khanam Rita, in Dhaka on Sunday, accompanied by State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, H.E. M. Rashiduzzaman Millat.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Bangladesh in the fields of civil aviation and tourism, with particular emphasis on tourism development, enhanced air connectivity through direct flights, capacity building and human resource development in the tourism sector.

The two sides also discussed potential cooperation in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), as well as opportunities to expand people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Possible joint initiatives in tourism and culture were also explored as Indonesia and Bangladesh prepare to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.

Visa-related matters also featured prominently in the discussions, particularly measures to facilitate greater mobility for Bangladeshi business travellers and tourists visiting Indonesia.

The Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka continues to facilitate visa services for Bangladeshi nationals in accordance with Indonesia’s prevailing policy framework. Going forward, the mechanism for utilizing Indonesia’s e-visa system is expected to be further improved to provide greater convenience for Bangladeshi nationals travelling to Indonesia.

The courtesy call was part of a series of meetings being conducted by Ambassador Listyowati with senior officials of the Government of Bangladesh since she assumed her duties as Indonesia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh in January 2026.

The discussions underscored the shared interest of Indonesia and Bangladesh in deepening bilateral ties and creating new opportunities for cooperation in aviation, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
