Nahid Rahman Appointed Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank

News Desk: Nahid Rahman has been promoted to the position of Executive Director (ED) of Bangladesh Bank, the country's central bank.

The central bank announced the promotion on Tuesday (7 July). Prior to his appointment, Rahman was serving on deputation as General Manager (Finance and Accounts) at The Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Limited.

Rahman began his career at Bangladesh Bank in 1999 as an Assistant Director in the General Side. Before joining the central bank, he worked as a probationary officer at Southeast Bank.

During his long career at Bangladesh Bank, he has held responsibilities in several key departments, including the Banking Regulation and Policy Department, Forex Reserve and Treasury Management Department, Human Resources Management Department, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, and the Credit Guarantee Department.

Academically, Rahman earned his Master of Commerce (M.Com.) in Finance from the Department of Finance and Banking, University of Dhaka. He later obtained a Master of Bank Management (MBM) from the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) while on deputation. Under the Japanese Government's JDS Scholarship Program, he also completed a Master's degree in Development Economics from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan.

He is a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (IBB). In addition, he completed an advanced professional certification in Certified Development Finance Professional (CDFP), jointly offered by the Development Finance Institute (DFI) and The Fletcher School at Tufts University. He has also authored several research papers and articles on banking, published in various professional journals.

Born into a respected Muslim family in Khulna, Nahid Rahman's father, Atikur Rahman, is a retired banker, while his mother, Selima Rahman, is a homemaker. Her husband, Md. Alamgir, is a professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).
