News Desk: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for an alternative plan or 'Plan B' to be prepared to deal with possible complications or challenges in reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He discussed this matter in detail with NATO allies in a meeting organized in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The US Secretary of State said, if someone starts a conflict or firing in the Strait of Hormuz, it is very important for the international community to have a concrete alternative plan to deal with the situation.
Pointing to Iran, he said, ideally at a certain time they should open this channel. But if Iran finally refuses to open the channel, then what steps will be taken in the emerging situation, is now the big question and 'Plan B' should be arranged accordingly.
If Iran closes the system, the United States and other related countries must take effective measures against it, Rubio said. However, he did not say anything clearly about whether the military alliance NATO should be directly involved in this process.
The US Secretary of State also talked about the ongoing negotiations or the progress of the agreement. Repeating his previous comments in this regard, he claimed that US mediators are continuing to negotiate with some very 'difficult' people. Noting that there has been some progress in the talks, no final decision has yet been reached, Rubio expressed hope that the situation could change, but there is a risk that it may not happen.
