News Desk: Due to a last-minute urgent application made by the defendant citing security and political reasons, the scheduled hearing of the corruption case of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been canceled again. This information was confirmed on Monday (May 18) morning with reference to the Israeli media channel 12.

In official documents submitted to the court, Netanyahu's lawyer requested the immediate cancellation of today's session. The petition states that the prime minister is unable to attend the court due to some highly confidential security and political situation. The specific and sensitive information in this regard has been handed over to the court and the lawyers for the state in a sealed envelope.

The high-profile trial, which began in 2020, accuses Netanyahu of three separate charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust. Netanyahu appeared in court for the first time in December 2024 after a lengthy legal process. However, since then, his interrogation process has been repeatedly interrupted.

Netanyahu's legal team has been consistently petitioning the court to postpone the hearing since 2025 and the beginning of this year. Each time, wartime conditions, urgent diplomatic engagements and tight security schedules were cited as reasons for the delay.

But critics are reluctant to accept this argument. They allege that Prime Minister Netanyahu is deliberately using regional geopolitical tensions and war situations as a shield to prolong the trial process and evade the courts.
