News Desk: The newly elected Members of Parliament to the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament have formally taken oath.
On Sunday (May 3), the Speaker, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, administered the oath to the MPs of the reserved women’s seats at the oath room of the National Parliament Secretariat.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, the oath-taking ceremony was held at 9:00 PM in the oath room located on Level-1 of the East Block of the Parliament building. The Speaker of the National Parliament administered the oath to these newly elected women representatives. With this oath-taking by the MPs of the reserved women’s seats, the 13th National Parliament has now taken its full form.
Earlier, on April 30, the Election Commission published the gazette of 49 candidates who were elected unopposed to the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament.
Among them, 36 elected women MPs from Bangladesh Nationalist Party are: Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akter Ranu, Neowaz Halima Arli, Farida Yasmin, Bilkis Islam, Sakila Farzana, Helen Jerin Khan, Nilofar Chowdhury Moni, Nipon Roy Chowdhury, Jeba Amina Khan, Mahmuda Habiba, Mosa. Sabira Sultana, Sansila Jebrin, Sanjida Islam, Sultana Ahmed, Fahmida Haque, Anna Minj, Subarna Sikdar, Shamima Ara Begum Swapna, Mosammat Shammi Akter, Ferdousi Ahmed, Bithika Binte Hossain, Suraiya Jerin, Mansura Akter, Johorat Adib Chowdhury, Momtaz Alo, Fahima Nasrin, Arifa Sultana, Sanjida Yasmin, Nadia Pathan Papon, Shaukat Ara Akter, Madhabi Marma, Selina Sultana, and Rezeka Sultana.
From the Jamaat alliance, 12 MPs are: Nurunnisa Siddika, Marzia Begum, Sabikun Nahar Munni, Najmun Nahar Nilu, Mahfuza Hannan, Sajeda Samad, Shamsunnahar Begum, Engineer Mardia Momtaz, Rokeya Begum, Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu, Tasmia Pradhan, and Engineer Mahbuba Hakim.
Additionally, Sultana Jesmin from the independent alliance has been declared elected as an MP through a gazette notification.
Meanwhile, the nomination paper of Nusrat Tabassum, a candidate of the Jamaat alliance and a leader of the National Citizens Party (NCP), for a reserved women’s seat in the 13th National Parliament, was declared valid by the Election Commission on Saturday. However, Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud stated that her name has not yet been published in the gazette due to ongoing legal procedures and an appeal process. As a result, she could not participate in the oath-taking ceremony at the National Parliament tonight.
