In the first 26 days of April, remittances exceeded 33 thousand crore taka.

News Desk: In the first 26 days of the month of April, expatriate income (remittances) worth 2.718 billion US dollars has been received in the country. In Bangladeshi currency, this amounts to 33,159 crore 60 lakh taka (calculated at an exchange rate of 122 taka per dollar).

 

On Monday (April 27) afternoon, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan shared this information.

 

According to data from Bangladesh Bank, on Sunday alone, remittances amounting to 1,695 crore 80 lakh taka were received. In comparison, during the first 26 days of April last year, remittances totaled 2.271 billion US dollars. This means that expatriate income has increased by 19.60 percent during the same period this year.

 

An analysis of the overall picture for the current fiscal year (from July 1 to April 26) shows that a total of 28.926 billion US dollars in remittances has been received so far. During the same period of the previous fiscal year, the amount was 24.056 billion US dollars. In other words, remittance inflows have increased by 20.20 percent compared to the same period last year.
