Expatriates sent $2.42 billion to the country in 22 days

News Desk: In the first 22 days of April, expatriates sent a total of $2.417 billion in remittances to Bangladesh. On average, this means about $101.9 million was received per day. This information was provided on Thursday (April 23) by Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan.

 

He said that remittance inflow during the first 22 days of April stood at $2.417 billion, compared to $2.053 billion during the same period last year. This indicates an increase in remittance inflow year-on-year.

 

From July of the current fiscal year up to April 22, the country received a total of $28.626 billion in remittances, marking a 20.10 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

 

Earlier, in March, Bangladesh received $3.75505 billion in remittances, the highest ever recorded in a single month in the country’s history.

 

In February and January, remittances amounted to $3.02076 billion and $3.17094 billion, respectively.

 

In December, remittance inflow stood at $3.2267 billion, while in November it was $2.88952 billion.

 

Additionally, in October and September, remittances were $2.56348 billion and $2.68588 billion, respectively. In August and July, the figures were $2.42189 billion and $2.4780 billion, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, throughout the fiscal year 2024–25, expatriates sent a total of $30.32 billion (or $3,032.80 crore) in remittances to the country, marking the highest annual remittance income in Bangladesh’s history.
