India-Bangladesh Explore Deeper Cooperation in Healthcare Sector

Diplomatic Correspondent: High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, on 24 March 2026.

The meeting was also attended by the Honourable Minister of State, H.E. Dr. M. A. Muhith, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation in the public healthcare sector. Key areas of focus included expanding collaboration in medical research, facilitating exchanges in advanced treatment, enhancing cancer care, and promoting traditional medicine practices.

They also explored opportunities to develop people-centric healthcare initiatives aimed at ensuring affordable and accessible medical services for the populations of both countries.

Furthermore, the discussions covered potential collaboration in capacity building, strengthening linkages in the pharmaceutical industry, advancing medical education, and leveraging digital and AI-enabled healthcare services. These initiatives are expected to be guided by shared priorities and driven by mutual benefit and common interests between India and Bangladesh.
