There will be no shadow of corruption in the ministry: Minister of State for Education

News Desk: Declaring a “zero tolerance” policy against corruption in all departments under the Ministry of Education, State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj said that over the next five years, no involvement of his in any kind of corruption within the ministry will be found. He also stated that he will not allow anyone else to engage in corruption.

He made these remarks on Saturday (21 February) while speaking as a special guest at a discussion meeting organized by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on the occasion of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.

Calling for strengthening the foundation, the State Minister said that education is the main foundation of state-building. There is no benefit in constructing a large building while keeping the foundation weak. Therefore, strengthening the infrastructure of education is the main goal of the current government. To improve the quality of education, he emphasized three key principles—“Curriculum, Classroom and Consistency.” He stated that it is necessary to ensure qualitative coordination among the different streams of education currently in practice (Bangla, English, technical and madrasa).

Highlighting the significance of the Language Movement, Bobby Hajjaj said that proficiency in the Bangla language must be ensured before learning English. He noted that many students are not learning Bangla properly, which is unfortunate.

Calling for giving the highest priority to language and mathematics in primary education, he said that if necessary, a “taskforce” will be formed to review the curriculum and a third language will be introduced gradually in the future.

Issuing a strict warning against corruption, the State Minister emphasized administrative transparency, saying, “We will not engage in corruption ourselves and will maintain strict monitoring in others’ cases as well. The Ministry of Education will be built into a completely corruption-free environment.”

“Proof of patriotism lies not only in street movements but also through honesty in the workplace,” he added.

The event was chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana, and Education Minister Anam Ehshanul Haque Milon was present as the chief guest. Speakers at the meeting paid deep tribute to the language martyrs and pledged to build a modern education system.
