Arms licenses will be granted to candidates in the upcoming election: Home Advisor

News Desk: The administration has been jolted into action following the fatal attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inkilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency. In light of this situation, and considering the security of candidates in the upcoming 13th general election, the Home Affairs Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has announced that they will be granted arms licenses.

He made this announcement while speaking to journalists after a core committee meeting on law and order at the ministry conference room in the Secretariat on Saturday (December 13).

The Home Affairs Advisor stated, "The number of arrests of fascists must be increased. Until now, only government employees were given weapons. Now, those who participate in the election will also be granted licenses if they request weapons. Any weapons of theirs currently held in our custody will be returned."

He further added, "This government is committed to ensuring the security of the frontline fighters of the July mass uprising. Special security measures are being taken for their protection."

The advisor also announced a reward of Taka 50 lakh for providing information leading to the arrest of the individual involved in the fatal attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of the Inkilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency.

Seeking prayers for Hadi, he said, "The government has announced a reward of Taka 50 lakh for handing over those involved in the attempt to murder him. Everyone should pray for him. With everyone's prayers, he can return to us."

The Home Affairs Advisor mentioned, "The process of apprehending the accused is ongoing. We hope to catch him very soon with everyone's cooperation."

Note: Yesterday, Friday afternoon, miscreants arrived on a motorcycle in the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area of the capital, shot Osman Hadi, and fled. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critically injured condition. Later that night, he was transferred to Evercare Hospital for better treatment.
