Chief Adviser Congratulates Election Commission on Announcing the Poll Schedule

News Desk: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the Election Commission for announcing the schedule of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum on the July National Charter 2025 Implementation Order.

In his message, the Chief Adviser said, “With the announcement of this schedule, Bangladesh’s democratic journey has crossed an important milestone.”

He added, “Following the historic mass uprising, the country is moving forward along a new path—this election and referendum will strengthen that trajectory, prioritize the will of the people, and further solidify the foundation of a new Bangladesh.”

The Chief Adviser further stated, “I believe the Election Commission will carry out its constitutional responsibilities independently, impartially, and with the highest level of professionalism. The interim government will provide all necessary support to the Commission to ensure that the election and referendum are conducted in a festive, participatory, and completely fair manner.”

Calling upon political parties, candidates, media, civil society, and above all the people of the country, he said, “Let us embrace this election and referendum as a national initiative for unity. Respect for differing views, a peaceful environment, and democratic conduct will make the coming days more stable.”

He added, “Bangladesh now stands at the threshold of a new future. Through your active participation and responsible behavior, I firmly believe we will succeed in building a modern, just, and prosperous nation.”

On Thursday (11 December), in a national address, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin announced that the National Parliamentary Election and the referendum on the July National Charter will be held on 12 February 2026.

He said that 12 February next year will be a nationwide festival of voting, during which elections for 300 seats of the 13th National Parliament and the referendum on the implementation of the July Charter will take place.
