“New program of the seven-college students”

News Desk: The students of the seven colleges have announced a new program over the proposed ordinance of Dhaka Central University. The announcement was made by student Abdur Rahman at a press conference held in front of Dhaka College on Wednesday (3 December) after a protest program.

The students have given an ultimatum to the concerned authorities until Saturday. If the ordinance is not issued within this time, they announced that from Sunday (7 December) they will start a continuous sit-in program in front of the Education Building in the capital.

Student Abdur Rahman said, the process of forming an independent university for the seven colleges has been stalled for a long time. The complications are increasing because the ordinance for the new university has not been issued. Therefore, from next Sunday, they will hold a continuous sit-in in front of the Education Building. The movement will continue until the ordinance is issued.

Earlier, from the morning, the students of the seven colleges started a protest march while holding a sit-in on the Dhaka College campus. At one point, they blocked the Mirpur Road in front and held their position. After the road blockade continued for more than two hours, they left after announcing the new program.

Meanwhile, the government has taken a policy decision to establish a new independent public university named “Dhaka Central University” by canceling affiliation with the University of Dhaka and merging the seven government colleges in the capital.
