Silver to Be Sold at Record-High Price Nationwide Starting Today

News Desk: Alongside gold, the price of silver has reached a new peak in the country’s market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced in a statement that from Wednesday (17 September), silver will be sold at a record-high price in the country’s history.

In a notice issued on the night of 16 September, BAJUS stated that the price of silver has been increased by BDT 665 per bhori (11.66 grams). As a result, the new price of 22-carat silver is BDT 3,476 per bhori.

The new prices for other carats are as follows:

• 21-carat: BDT 3,313 per bhori

• 18-carat: BDT 2,846 per bhori

• Traditional silver: BDT 2,135 per bhori

BAJUS added that the above prices include an additional 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% labor charge set by the association. However, labor charges may vary slightly depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.

Previously, the last adjustment in silver prices was made on 3 May this year, when the price of 22-carat silver was reduced by BDT 35 to BDT 2,811 per bhori.

This is the third adjustment in silver prices this year, with two increases and one decrease. Last year, silver prices were adjusted three times as well.
