Faridpur Correspondent: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organized a protest procession in Bhanga, Faridpur, condemning acts of sabotage carried out at government offices and the local police station. The alleged incidents occurred in the wake of a blockade program enforced by the All-Party Struggle Committee protesting the proposed re-demarcation of constituencies in Bhanga.
The protest march began at around 1:30 PM on Tuesday (16 September) from the Bhanga Eidgah grounds and paraded through various roads in the area.
During a brief rally held afterwards, speakers said, “We were peacefully demonstrating against the removal of Algi Union and Hamiddi Union from the Faridpur-4 constituency. However, when fascist forces began to exploit the situation, we withdrew our movement to avoid unrest. Taking advantage of this, they attempted to destabilize Bhanga, just as they had done in Gopalganj, in an effort to sabotage the upcoming national election. We strongly condemn this act and demand proper justice for those involved.”
Present at the event were Syed Modarres Ali Isa, Convenor of the Faridpur District BNP, and Aiyub Ali Munshi, General Secretary of the Bhanga Upazila BNP, along with other party leaders.
