News Desk: Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, has stated that no precedent should be left for the nation that could become problematic or challenged later. He noted that the implementation process of the July certificate is being taken to a more complex stage.
Ahmed made these remarks on Sunday (14 September) during a meeting of the National Consensus Commission with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, which focused on the legal basis and implementation procedures of the July certificate. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Adviser.
He emphasized, “We do not want to leave any precedent for the nation that might not hold even two days later or could become a challenge.”
The commission had last met with political parties on 11 September. Although discussions on the implementation of the July certificate took place, no final decision was reached.
According to the commission, the July certificate is not just a framework for political reform but a long-term roadmap that will strengthen the foundations of democracy and good governance in the country. Its effective implementation, however, requires full political consensus.
