Babar Attends Meeting at Home Ministry; Tarique Rahman’s Security Under Discussion

News Desk: Former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar visited the Ministry of Home Affairs after a gap of 21 years.

On Sunday at 4:22 PM, he arrived at the Secretariat and held a courtesy meeting with the current Adviser for Home Affairs, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

Sources close to the former minister indicated that while the meeting was purely formal, discussions regarding the overall and round-the-clock security arrangements for the party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, who is expected to return to the country soon, are likely to be included. The meeting also involved exchanges of views on nationwide law and order, border security, and crime prevention through the use of modern technology.

Lutfozzaman Babar served as the State Minister for Home Affairs during the Four-Party Alliance government from 2001 to 2006. During his tenure, he frequently drew public attention, receiving both praise and criticism. His visit to the ministry attracted journalists and officials from various intelligence agencies.

Participants in the meeting included Home Affairs Adviser (Retd.) Lt. Gen. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant Khodabux Chowdhury, Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani, Police IG Baharul Alam, former Senior Secretary Kamruzzaman, and former Additional IG Mahbubur Rahman.
