News Desk: Gold is being sold at 1 lakh 85 thousand 94 taka per bhori in the country's market on Saturday (September 13). Earlier, last Tuesday (September 9), the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) increased the price of gold by 3 thousand 137 taka per bhori.

BAJUS announced in a circular that the price of acid gold (pure gold) has increased in the local market. Consequently, considering the overall situation, new gold prices have been determined.

According to the new prices, 22-carat gold will cost 1 lakh 85 thousand 947 taka per bhori (11.664 grams) in the country's market. Additionally, 21-carat gold has been priced at 1 lakh 77 thousand 503 taka per bhori, 18-carat at 1 lakh 52 thousand 145 taka per bhori, and traditional method gold at 1 lakh 26 thousand 146 taka per bhori.

BAJUS further stated in the circular that the mandatory government-determined 5 percent VAT and BAJUS-determined minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the gold selling price. However, wages may vary depending on the design and quality of jewelry.

Previously, BAJUS had last adjusted gold prices in the country's market on September 8. At that time, the organization had increased the price by 1 thousand 260 taka per bhori, setting the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold at 1 lakh 82 thousand 810 taka, which had been the highest price of gold in the country's history until then.

Additionally, 21-carat gold was priced at 1 lakh 74 thousand 505 taka per bhori, 18-carat at 1 lakh 49 thousand 567 taka per bhori, and traditional method gold at 1 lakh 23 thousand 942 taka per bhori, which became effective from September 9.

This marks the 52nd adjustment to gold prices in the country's market this year. Prices have been increased 36 times and decreased only 16 times. In 2024, gold prices were adjusted 62 times in the country's market, with prices increased 35 times and decreased 27 times.

While gold prices have increased, silver prices remain unchanged in the country's market. One bhori of 22-carat silver is being sold at 2 thousand 811 taka in the country.

Additionally, 21-carat silver is priced at 2 thousand 683 taka per bhori, 18-carat at 2 thousand 298 taka per bhori, and traditional method silver is being sold at 1 thousand 726 taka per bhori.
