EU Ambassador Visits Jamaat Ameer’s Residence: What Was Discussed

News Desk: The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Bangladesh, Charles Whiteley, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Thursday morning.

The meeting took place at 11:00 a.m. at the Jamaat chief’s residence in Vatara, Dhaka. The Ambassador was accompanied by Deputy Head of Delegation, Baeiba Zerina.

During the discussion, they exchanged views on matters of mutual interest concerning Bangladesh and the European Union. The issue of making democracy in Bangladesh more meaningful was also given significant emphasis. Both sides expressed hope that bilateral relations, cooperation, and progress would continue in the future.

The Ambassador also inquired about the health of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. In addition, discussions touched upon a planned high-level meeting between the EU delegation and Jamaat to be held in mid-September.

Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former Member of Parliament Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, along with Jamaat Ameer’s foreign affairs adviser Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, were also present at the meeting.
