Clinic sealed in Kaliganj, fined 80,000

Gazipur Correspondent:  A local private clinic named Zarina has been closed and sealed in a mobile court operation in Kaliganj, Gazipur. At that time, the owner of the clinic, Zakia Begum (45), was fined 80,000 taka in cash under the Consumer Rights Protection Act.  

Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Tanima Afrad handed down the sentence on Tuesday (March 12) afternoon.

The fined person is the daughter of the late Shamshuddin Ahmed of Kalapatua village in Jamalpur union of Zakia upazila.

Mobile court judge Tanima Afrad said that the local upazila administration had filed a complaint against a private clinic named Zarina Clinic in Kalapatua village of Dolan Baja area of ​​Jamalpur union of the upazila for improper treatment and lack of documents. The mobile court operation was conducted based on that complaint.

The UNO also said that the clinic was closed and sealed after the initial allegations were found to be true. Along with this, the clinic owner was fined 80,000 taka in a case of violation of Section 52 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009. Mobile court judge Tanima Afrad also said that such campaigns of the mobile court will continue as part of its regular work.     

At that time, Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Dr. Jessily Ghosh Munmun, Bench Assistant Md. Alamin Bhuiyan, along with police and Ansar members were present.
