Trading in the capital market is underway amid an upward trend in the index.

Economy Desk:  On Monday (February 17), the second working day of the week, trading is underway on the country's main stock market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), and the other market, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), with the indices trending upwards.

Half an hour after the start of trading, at 10:30 am, the DSE's general index DSEX rose 19 points from the previous day to stand at 5,218 points.

 The DSE Shariah Index rose by 6 points and the DSE-30 Index rose by 5 points to 1,159 and 1,927 points respectively. Shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 818.9 million were traded during this period.

Of the companies traded at this time on Monday, the share prices of 203 companies increased, 54 decreased, and 65 remained unchanged.

The top 10 companies in terms of transactions are Grameenphone, Simtex Industries, Robi, BRAC Bank, Sonali Paper, Newline, Midland Bank, Navana Pharma, Sonali Ansh and BSC.

The DSEX rose 12 points in the first 5 minutes of trading. At 10:10 am, the index rose another 2 points from its previous position. After that, the index's momentum was seen to be upward.  

Twenty minutes after the start of trading, i.e. at 10:20 am, the index rose 19 points from the previous day to stand at 5,218 points.

On the other hand, half an hour after the start of trading, i.e. at 10:30 am, the CASPI index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) rose by 29 points to stand at 14,534 points. After that, the index's momentum was seen to be upward.

During this period, shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 2.1 million were traded on the CSE. Of the companies traded, the share prices of 18 increased, 14 decreased, and the share prices of 5 companies remained unchanged.
