A BNP delegation has conducted an on-site inspection at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to ensure the security of BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman.

After the inspection, BNP Standing Committee member and Convener of the Reception Committee, Salahuddin Ahmed, told journalists, “Tarique Rahman is returning to the country on a regular commercial flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The aircraft is scheduled to land in Dhaka at 11:55 a.m. We can say 12 o’clock.”

Also present at the time were BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Member Secretary of the Reception Committee, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, and BNP Media Cell Convener, Dr. Maudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel.

Salahuddin said that the arrangements for Tarique Rahman’s return to the country would be historic and that public participation would be memorable.

He said, “We want Tarique Rahman’s historic return to surpass all precedents of the last 55 years. Arrangements are being made so that such a historic event does not occur again even in the next 55 years. People from all over the country are waiting for this day.”

Referring to Tarique Rahman’s return after 17 years of painful exile, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “There is immense enthusiasm among the people of the country to see the person who is the guardian of democracy in this country and who will lead Bangladesh in the coming days. While continuing the struggle against fascism, we have been able to liberate democracy. He has led this anti-fascist democratic political struggle for a long 16-17 years.”

In response to a question about whether Tarique Rahman would be given a reception at 300 Feet or elsewhere, the BNP leader said, “We are looking at the locations. Since the people of Bangladesh are eager to see him and hear him speak, we are trying to make arrangements considering this.”

However, he said that public inconvenience is also being taken into account. “We are considering how to avoid public suffering. We are inspecting possible locations, and once the final selection is made, it will be announced.”
