International Desk: Israel continues to attack the Palestinian territory of Gaza. More than 32,000 Palestinians have been killed in this attack, which has been going on for almost six months. The outrage against Israel is growing worldwide because of this barbaric aggression. In this situation, a UN expert has accused Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, he called for an arms embargo against Israel. Reuters reported this information in a report on Tuesday (March 26) night.

According to the report, a United Nations expert told the human rights council of the global organization on Tuesday - he believes that Israel's military operation in Gaza since October 7 last year is tantamount to genocide, and for this reason he has called on countries to impose an arms embargo against Israel, including an immediate embargo.

Israel, however, did not attend the UN session, and the country that launched the invasion of Gaza rejected the findings of the UN expert. The UN expert who accused Israel of genocide is Francesca Albanese. The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory presented a report titled 'The Anatomy of a Genocide' to the UN rights body in Geneva on Tuesday.

Francesca Albanese said, "It is my duty to report on the worst conditions of humanity and to present the results obtained. I find, and have reasonable grounds to believe, that the threshold for the crime of genocide against the Palestinians as a group has been met in Gaza. More than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed, he said, among other actions. "I urge member states to abide by their obligations, starting with the imposition of arms embargoes and sanctions against Israel, and to ensure that such crimes are not repeated in the future," he said. The 1948 Genocide Convention, drafted in the wake of the Nazi Holocaust, defines genocide as 'an act committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, racial, ethnic or religious group'.

Israel's diplomatic mission in Geneva, meanwhile, said the use of the word genocide was "offensive". They claim that Israel is waging this war against Hamas, not against Palestinian civilians. When Hamas fighters entered southern Israel, 1,200 people were killed and 253 captured in Israel.

The Israeli diplomatic mission added, "Instead of seeking the truth, the UN Special Rapporteur is trying to prop up his weak arguments against reality." However, Gulf countries such as Qatar, as well as African countries including Algeria and Mauritania, have also expressed support for Francesca Albanese's search, as well as concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. In addition, seats were kept vacant for Israel's ally, the United States. Washington has previously accused the UN council of a longstanding anti-Israel bias.
