80 earthquakes were felt in a few hours in Taiwan

International Desk: This series of earthquakes was felt on the east coast of Taiwan from Monday (April 22) night local time to Tuesday (April 23) morning.

The strongest of these tremors was magnitude 6.3. Reuters reported this information in a report on Tuesday. According to the report, 80 earthquakes struck the east coast of Taiwan from Monday night to Tuesday morning, according to the meteorological administration of the island nation. Among them, the strongest tremor was 6.3 magnitude.

Some of the tremors were felt in the country's capital, Taipei. Taiwan's Meteorological Administration said the remote eastern county of Hualien was the epicenter of the quakes. Earlier this month, at least 14 people were killed in a 7.2-magnitude earthquake in the same area. The Hualien Fire Department said early Tuesday that a hotel damaged by the April 3 earthquake was further damaged and leaning.

However, no casualty was reported. Because it was closed due to earthquake damage a few days ago. Earlier, in 2016, a powerful earthquake in southern Taiwan killed hundreds of people.

Before that, in 1999, more than two thousand people died in the earthquake of magnitude 7.3 on this island. Being located near the intersection of two tectonic plates, Taiwan is naturally very earthquake prone.
