‎Bangladesh Sends Emergency Medical Aid to Iran in Gesture of Solidarity Amid Middle East Crisis

Diplomatic Correspondent‎: Bangladesh Red Crescent Society handed over emergency medicines to Iran on Thursday as a humanitarian gesture of solidarity with the Iranian people amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

‎The medical supplies were formally delivered in Dhaka by Dr. Kabir M. Ashraf Alam to Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi at a ceremony held at the Iranian Embassy.
‎
‎Representing the Bangladesh government at the event were Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam and Md. Humayun Kabir.
‎Officials said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had earlier donated Tk 10 million to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society on April 6, 2026, to support the purchase of urgent medicines and medical equipment for injured civilians in Iran.

‎During the ceremony, Secretary (Bilateral) Dr. Nazrul Islam expressed deep concern over the heavy loss of life and destruction caused by the conflict in the Middle East. He reiterated that Bangladesh has always stood for peace and voiced hope that the crisis would be resolved through diplomatic efforts, leading to lasting peace in the region.

‎Receiving the assistance, Ambassador Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi expressed sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh government for the humanitarian initiative. He also highlighted the deep and friendly relations between Bangladesh and Iran and thanked the people of Bangladesh for their sympathy and support during this difficult time.

‎Dr. Kabir said the Red Crescent movement has always worked for oppressed and affected people around the world, adding that extending humanitarian support to the people of Iran during wartime was part of its humanitarian responsibility.
