U.S. Ambassador Marks 100 Days in Bangladesh, Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Bilateral Ties

Diplomatic Correspondent:  Brent T. Christensen has marked his first 100 days in Bangladesh by highlighting growing cooperation between United States and Bangladesh, while reaffirming Washington’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

In a video message, Ambassador Christensen said he had spent the past three months exploring Bangladesh’s rich cultural and historical heritage, including taking part in celebrations of Pohela Boishakh.

He noted that the United States was the first country to recognize Bangladesh’s recent election results and congratulate the new government, signaling continued support for democratic processes and stable relations between the two nations.

The ambassador also emphasized efforts to expand trade and economic cooperation, saying stronger commercial ties would help balance trade and create greater prosperity for both countries.

Christensen further underlined shared interests in promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region and said the United States continues to remain one of the largest development partners for Bangladesh.

The remarks come as Dhaka and Washington seek to broaden cooperation in trade, regional security, development, and people-to-people engagement.
