Bumper wheat yield in Thakurgaon, smiles on farmers' faces

Thakurgaon Correspondent: There has been a bumper harvest of wheat in Thakurgaon district this season. Farmers are expecting good profits this time as the weather is good and there is no blast disease. And the Agriculture Department has provided all kinds of support to the farmers in wheat cultivation. 

Such a sight of golden wheat spread across the fields will now be seen in various areas of five upazilas of Thakurgaon. Farmers will harvest this wheat and take it home within a few days. The wheat yield has also been good this time as there is no disease. Wheat has been cultivated in almost all the unions of the district this season. 

Currently, wheat is sold at a price of 1,000 taka to 1,100 taka. It costs 2,500 taka to cultivate wheat on one bigha of land, and about 8,000 taka is available from there. And the Agriculture Department has provided maximum assistance to the wheat farmers by providing necessary advice, said Thakurgaon Agriculture Department Director Tartha Mata. According to him, this year wheat has been cultivated on 21,050 hectares of land in all upazilas alone.
