Almost every house has at least 1/2 Sajina trees. These trees have grown without care. The trees also yield well. Every year, branches or stalks of Sajina are planted. However, about 30 percent of the planted stalks die. There are 2 varieties of Sajina in this upazila, one is Halo Signal and the other is Baromasi Sajina. Due to the high demand for sajina and its high price, farmers in the upazila are now profiting by planting sajina trees in a planned manner on fallow land. Many are showing interest in cultivating sajina commercially due to the high price. An upazila official and agriculturist source said that this cold-hot, drought-tolerant tree grows everywhere in Bangladesh. This year, sajina trees have bloomed profusely.
