6 die of dengue as daily hospital admissions hit record high

News Desk: Six people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, while 2,158 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period—the highest number of daily hospital admissions recorded this year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a dengue-related press release issued by its Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room on Sunday (September 27).

According to the release, among those admitted over the past 24 hours, 227 were in Barishal Division, 345 in Chattogram Division, 356 outside the city corporations in Dhaka Division, 311 under Dhaka North City Corporation, 197 under Dhaka South City Corporation, 329 in Khulna Division, 132 in Mymensingh Division, 73 in Rangpur Division and 12 in Sylhet Division.

As of September 27 this year, a total of 73,696 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country.

So far this year, 68,006 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 1,755 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.

Six people died of dengue during the same period, bringing the total number of dengue deaths this year to 225.

From January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue and 413 died of the disease.

In 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue and 575 died between January and December.

In 2023, a total of 321,179 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, while 1,705 people died of the disease.
