Body of housewife found in Melandhe, family claims murder

Jamalpur Correspondent: The police recovered the body of the wife of a Saudi expatriate named Laila Begum (38) in Melandhe of Jamalpur. However, the victim's family alleged that the housewife was killed.

The body of the deceased was recovered from Char Khabulia of Mahmudpur Union of Shashurbari Upazila on Wednesday (May 15) morning. 

In this incident, Yakub Ali, the brother of the deceased, when he wanted to file a murder case at the police station, the police station complained that there was no murder case. However, the police said that a case of wrongful death has been registered.

According to the inquiry, Rakibul Islam was married to Laila Begum about twenty years ago. They have two sons and a daughter. Laila Begum's two-year-old daughter started crying for a long time around 3 pm on Tuesday. Hearing the sound of crying, her father-in-law Rafiqul Islam called out a lot, but without getting any response, he entered his house and found Laila Begum hanging with a rope wrapped around her neck. Later the locals lowered the hanging body to the ground.

Meanwhile, the families of the deceased say, 'We came in the morning and saw the dead body lying on the balcony of the house. Two days ago he sold two maunds of paddy and two days later he fell and killed him. People from in-law's house used to torture after marriage. There have been many disputes over the fact that the son-in-law was outside the country and used to torture more. 

Yakub Ali, elder brother of the victim said, "My sister was killed by her father-in-law and family members. We got the news in the morning that we saw the dead body lying on the balcony of the house. We were at the police station all day from morning. I have asked many times to file a murder case, but the police did not take the murder case.

Melandah Police Station OC Investigation Kabir Hossain said, I visited the scene after receiving the destruction. The body of the deceased has been sent to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy. The real mystery will be revealed after the autopsy. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Melandah Police Station Raju Ahmed said, 'A case of wrongful death has been filed in this incident. The legal status will be taken later after the post-mortem report.
