Pabna Correspondent: Abdur Razzak (53), a former member of the Pabna Extremist Proletariat, was shot dead due to an old dispute within the extremists, over possession of Bill's land and fish and spread of influence. RAB gave this information after the arrest of two people involved in the murder. They were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday (March 19). The arrested are Rafiqul Islam alias Kata Rafiq (38) son of deceased Abdur Rahim Pramanik of Manoharpur village of Pabna Sadar upazila and Sohle Rana (32) son of Mukul Hossain of Babulchra village of the same upazila.
On the other hand, a case has been filed in connection with the murder of Abdur Razzak, a former member of the extremist Proletariat. Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Roshan Ali said that the brother of the deceased, Iqbal Hossain, filed a murder case at midnight on Monday (March 18) as a defendant in the case of Abdur Razzak's murder. Names of 12 people have been named in the case and 5 to 6 others have been named as defendants. Meanwhile, RAB-12 Pabna Company Commander Major Ehteshamul Haque Khan said on Tuesday afternoon that a team of RAB launched an operation to arrest those involved after the murder.
Based on secret information, Rafiqul alias Kata Rafiq was arrested from Manoharpur area of Sadar Upazila and Sohail Rana from Babulchhara area in a separate operation. Later after interrogation they were handed over to Pabna Sadar Police Station. RAB-12 commander Major Ehteshamul Haque Khan said about the reason for the killing, preliminary information revealed that the extremists had an old internal dispute, disputes over possession of land and fish and rivalry between them over the spread of influence. Although Razzak returned to normal life, the conflict with the proletariat did not end. Due to which this murder happened.
Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali said that after RAB handed over two people to Sadar Police Station, they were arrested in that case and sent to jail through the court on Tuesday afternoon. It should be noted that Abdur Razzak was sitting at a tea shop in Maniknagar Bazaar of Sadar Upazila around 10:30 PM on Sunday (March 17). At that time, a masked youth on a motorcycle targeted Abdur Razzak and ran away. Razzaq was shot on the right side of his back and right hand and fell on the road. Later, the locals rescued the seriously injured Razzak and rushed him to Pabna General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Alam said that the deceased Abdur Razzak was a member of the banned extremist organization East Bengal Probation Party. Surrendered with other extremists to Home Minister Asaduzzaman at Pabna District Stadium in 2019.
