Attack by two parties in Faridpur, shops and houses vandalized: 4 injured

Faridpur Correspondent: In Faridpur's Boalmari, incidents of counter-attacks, vandalism and looting have taken place between the two parties over charging high prices of fertilizers and medicines.

In the attack, seven shops and houses were allegedly vandalized. 4 people were seriously injured in this incident. Local police have arrested 7 people from both sides for their involvement in the incident.

Additional police were deployed at the scene on Monday night after the attack. Both parties have submitted statements to the police station. OC said that the case is under process.

Shahidul Islam. According to local residents and police station sources, when Syed Rakib Ali (20), son of Syed Noor Ali of Jaypasha village, bought pesticides from the shop of Fertilizer and pesticide trader Jewel Kazi (28), son of Jalil Kazi of Jaypasha village of Parameshwardi union of the upazila, the price of pesticides was 50 taka higher on Monday (18 March) After Iftar, two people had an argument. On that day at around 8:30 pm, there was a clash between Syed Rakib Ali group and Jewel Kazi group. Jewel Kazi is a supporter of local influential former upazila chairman Syed Abdur Rahman Bashar group and Syed Rakib Ali is a supporter of another local influential Habibur Rahman alias Habi Fakir group. During the attack, 7 shops and some residences of both groups were vandalized in Jaypasha Bazar. During the incident, Syed Rakib Ali has been accused of vandalizing Jewel Kazi's shop, residential fridge, electric meter, furniture and shop goods. Syed Ashiq (23), Faisal Kazi (22), Syed Salim (32) and Syed Oliar Rahman (50) of Joypasha village who were fatally injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at Boalmari Upazila Health Complex. On receiving the information, the police arrested 7 people from both sides. Since the attack, additional police have been deployed at the scene till Tuesday afternoon.

In this regard, the former upazila chairman Syed Abdur Rahman Bashar, who leads the Jewel Kazi Group, said that the attack started after a dispute over shopping. The opponents suddenly attacked some business establishments in the market and vandalized and looted, causing damage to the tune of half a million taka.

Habibur Rahman alias Habi Fakir, the leader of Syed Rakib Ali's side regarding the incident of vandalism and looting, said that he is busy with the case of the attack. I will not make any statement now. I will tell everything after the press conference.

On Tuesday afternoon, the officer in charge of Boalmari police station said. Shahidul Islam said that 7 people from both sides have been arrested for their involvement in the conflict. Both parties have submitted statements to the police station. The case is pending.
