Press conference to protest the attempt of illegal occupation in Faridpur

Faridpur representative: A press conference was held in Faridpur to protest the illegal occupation of land and business establishments.

Nazrul Islam Mridha, the victim, councilor of Ward No. 22 of Faridpur municipality and joint convener of the city Awami League, held a press conference at Faridpur Press Club Advocate Shamsuddin Molla Auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.

Councilor Nazrul Islam Mridha said in his written statement that 13.37 percent of the land under the Kotyali police station of Faridpur district No. 116 Kamalapur Maujar S.A. 1980 according to Khatian No. BS 1295 No. Having obtained it, I have built houses and shops on it and have been enjoying it peacefully for about 12 years. But out of 43.37 percent of the land in 16 annas of the said dag, 3.37 percent purchased by me and 10 percent received in the deed of Am-Moktar, a total of 13.37 percent of the land from the eastern side of the dag, according to everyone's knowledge, had been living for about 12 years by building houses, business establishments and electricity. I am in peaceful possession after paying the bills, municipal tax. In this situation, on March 17, at approximately 9:20 am, 120/130 foreign terrorists came to my residential land and business and tried to vandalize and occupy it. When the tenant of my house asked to know the reason for the vandalism, he started beating him with an iron shovel.

When the local people of the area and my younger brother Md. Azizul Islam Mridha came forward and started beating him with iron clubs, he screamed. Then my younger brother told me on mobile phone that terrorists are vandalizing my residence and business and beating us. I then informed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotyali police station about the incident on the mobile phone and asked him to send the police to the spot immediately. The OC sent the police to the spot. At that time I also reached the spot. Then we rescued an unknown terrorist along with Mithun Khan and Habib Khan from the local people and handed them over to the police. Later, I appeared at Kotyali police station and informed the officer in charge of Kotyali police station about the incident and said that if I provide the photocopy of my documents and the order of His Highness High Court, the OC will look at the documents and take further action.

I file Civil Revision Suit No. 7183/23 of Hon'ble Supreme Court High Court Division in the interests of justice. The Honorable High Court directed the persons having ownership interest in the land of Nalishi Mauzar BS No. 1295 Khatianbhukta No. 8617 to maintain the status quo for 6 (six) months.

Under the chairmanship of Faridpur Press Club General Secretary Mahabubul Islam Pikul, Ward No. 22 Councilor of Faridpur Municipality and District Awami League Vice President Main Uddin Ahmed Manu, Faridpur City Awami League Convener Shahid Uddin Ahmed, Joint Convener Nurul Amin Bappi, Ward No. 22. Awami League President Haider Ali along with members of Faridpur Press Club and journalists from various print and electronic media were present.
