Friend killed by friend in Pabna

Pabna Correspondent: Abdus Samad alias Samrat (28) went for a ride with a friend's motorcycle. At one point, when the motorcycle was damaged in an accident, his friend Azad Hossain spent two thousand rupees to repair it. Among them, Samrat gave Azad 1000 rupees. And due to the remaining 1000 rupees, there was a dispute between them. At one point,Samrat killed his friend Azad without paying the 1,000 taka owed to him.

On March 11, the police revealed the mystery of the murder case of mason Azad Hossain in Dapunia area of ​​Pabna Sadar Upazila and arrested the accused.

Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Masud Alam gave this information in a press release on Sunday (March 17) morning. Earlier on Saturday (March 16) he was arrested.

The deceased Azad Pabna is the son of Abdul Hakim of Chaikgharia village of Dapunia Union of Sadar Upazila and the arrested Abdus Samad alias Samrat is the son of Rabiul Islam of the same village.

In a press release, Additional Superintendent of Police Masood Alam said that Azad left the house with his Discovery motorcycle at 7:30 pm on March 11 and did not return. His father Abdul Hakim reported him missing at Pabna Sadar police station the next afternoon after searching all possible places.

At one stage of the search, the mutilated body of the missing Azad was found in the lychee garden next to the farm of Musharraf Chairman of Shigharia village of Dapunia Union at noon on March 13. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. In this incident, the victim's father filed a murder case as a plaintiff.

After that, a joint team of Sadar Police Station and DB Police entered the field to investigate the incident. They conducted a raid with the help of information technology and arrested the accused emperor in connection with the incident. Later, during police questioning, the accused Samrat confessed to killing  Azad.

In questioning, Smrat said that they were close friends and worked as masons together. A month ago, Azad was injured in a motorcycle accident while traveling with his used motorcycle. Azad spent two thousand rupees for repairing the motorcycle. Samrat gave 1000 rupees out of it. Animosity was created between the two friends over asking for the remaining 1,000 rupees. Since then, the accused Samrat was looking for an opportunity to kill his friend Azad.

Following this, Samrat called his friend Azad at 8:30 pm on March 11 and went to the lychee garden next to the Musharraf chairman's farm. At one stage of the conversation, the Samrat struck Azad in the neck and under the eyes with a sharp knife he had. After confirming his death, they dragged the body and covered it under the dry leaves of the bean plant at the spot. The sharp knife used in the murder was dumped in the paddy field next to the crime scene. The deceased left the spot with the mobile phone used by Azad and the bloodstained jacket he was wearing. On the way, the mobile phone used by Azad was thrown into a pond of Sixgharia village.

Besides, Samrat kept Azad's blood-stained jacket and motorcycle's digital number plate in his bedroom and took the motorcycle to the house of one Farooq Sheikh in Mohrakaya village of Lalpur upazila of Natore. According to the confession of Samrat after the arrest, the police seized the mobile phone used by the deceased, the motorcycle, the blood-stained jacket he was wearing and the knife used in the murder.

On Saturday afternoon, Samrat gave a statement under section 164 in the learned court, admitting the responsibility of the murder. Later he was sent to jail through Sadar police station.
