Sreepur Representative: His wife Suraiya has alleged that Rashidul (28), a garment worker suffering from rabies due to dog bite, died by wrong injection in Gazipur's Sreepur. In this incident, the wife of the garment worker became the plaintiff and filed a written complaint at the Sreepur police station on March 03, accusing Asadul (30), an employee of Sarkar Pharmacy in Jaina Bazar.

Victim of wrong treatment, Rashidul is the son of Khorshed Alam of Nayapara village of Kauraid Union of Sripur Upazila. He used to work in a local garment factory called Sadsan. Accused Asadul is a resident of Ishwarganj Upazila of Mymensingh and an employee of Sarkar Pharmacy in Jaina Bazar of Sreepur Upazila. He has been living in Jaina Bazar area for a long time, running a pharmacy and treating patients.

Sarkar Pharmacy owner Mojibur Rahman and employee Asadul are absconding since the death of the garment worker. Rashidul's wife Suraiya said that her husband was bitten by a dog on November 9 last year. Calling Asadul about this as he was known earlier, his pharmacy has rabies vaccine and asked him to take her husband to the pharmacy. Suraiya went to government pharmacy with her husband at 4 pm that day. Later the accused pushed the injection (vaccine) in her husband's thigh. Since then my husband's condition deteriorated day by day and he was informed.

Then he said that he has been treating this disease for more than a century. As her husband's condition is critical, she was taken to Mohakhali Infectious Diseases Hospital at 7:30 am on 01st of this month (March 01) for better treatment. The doctor of the emergency department of that hospital informed her that her husband's condition is critical due to lack of proper treatment and vaccination. The next day on 02 March at 9 am her husband died at home.

Accused accused Asadul's wrong treatment of her husband's death. He also said that since the accused Asadul is influential, he has approached the police and journalists about the matter as he assured them of settlement through the local people but no action was taken. When Jaina Bazar Sarkar went to the pharmacy, the owner of the pharmacy Mojibur Rahman and the employee Asadul ran away after seeing the journalist.

Later, when I tried to contact Mojibur Rahman, the owner of the pharmacy in Muthofen, his statement was not received. Deputy Inspector (SI) of Sreepur police station Roshan Ali said, I have received a written complaint of death of garment workers due to wrong treatment. The matter is being investigated. Further legal action will be taken if the complaint is proved.
