Suicide of Woman due to Extramarital Affair in Kaliakore

Kaliakore Correspondent: A woman committed suicide by hanging herself due to extramarital love in Kaliakore of Gazipur. On Friday (March 15), the dead body of the woman was recovered from a room in the house of Samsul Mia's son Arif Mia of Mouchak Rakhaliachala area of ​​the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Salma Akhtar (40), daughter of the deceased Tara Mia of Rakhaliachala area of ​​Kaliakair upazila. According to police and family sources, Salma Begum, daughter of deceased Tara Mia of Rakhaliachala village of Kaliakair upazila, had 1 daughter and 2 sons, but she developed an affair with Arif Mia, son of Samsul Mia of the same area.

Later on 30 June 2022, they got married through a notary public with a stamp of three hundred rupees. But Salma Begum was demanding to take her lover Arif home for marriage and after-work according to religious and Shariah. Deceased Salma Begum did not get any solution after courting several local dignitaries. Later on Friday at 11 am in Rakhalichala area, Salma Begum's body was found hanging in a room of Arif's boyfriend Arif's teenage house with a cotton cloth hanging from the ceiling.

The son of deceased Salma Begum Hasan Sheikh told Nashtabdi that Arif Mia killed my mother. Arif Mia has been demanding 5 lakh rupees from my mother for a long time and if she gives the money, she will take it home with the dignity of a wife. Since she could not pay the money, Arif Mia has been torturing my mother physically and mentally for a long time.

Sabbir Rahman, investigation OC of Kaliakor police station said, initially we think it is a case of suicide. The body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known when the post-mortem report is received.
