BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul went to Singapore for treatment

News Desk:  BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Singapore for treatment. His wife Rahat Ara Begum is with him. Mirza Fakhrul left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore on Monday (04 March) at 8:30 am.

He is scheduled to return to the country on March 18 after treatment. After three and a half months in prison, Mirza Fakhrul was released on bail on February 15. However, during his stay in prison, he lost about six kilograms of weight, said BNP vice chairman and medical professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain told the media. Then Fakhrul went to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli on February 17 for a physical check-up.

Last year on August 24 last year, his wife went to Singapore for treatment. After a week of treatment, they returned home on September 2.

Mirza Fakhrul has not been active in politics since his release from prison. He did not participate in any political program. However, on February 24, Fakhrul had a meeting with Afrin Akhtar, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, who was visiting a hotel in Gulshan.
