The government is buying oil, wheat and pulses worth Tk 424 crore from the international market

Economy Desk: The government has decided to buy oil, wheat and pulses. 424 crore 54 lakh 35 thousand of these daily commodities will be bought from local and international markets. The approval was given by the Cabinet Committee on Purchase. 

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali chaired the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement meeting on Thursday. After the meeting, the decision of the meeting was announced by the Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division, Syed Mahbub Khan.

He said, in view of a proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, a proposal has been given to buy 1 crore 10 lakh liters of soybean oil in the local open tender system. The total cost to buy this oil from City Edible Oil Limited will be 174 crore 66 lakh 90 thousand taka. And for every liter it will cost 158 ​​taka 79 paisa. The previous purchase price was 165 taka 25 paisa.

In view of the proposal of the Ministry of Food, approval has been given to purchase 50 thousand metric tons of wheat from Singapore company MS Agro Cotton International Limited. The total cost to buy this wheat will be 166 crore 75 lakh 45 thousand taka. The price of wheat per metric ton will be 303.16 dollars. The previous purchase price was $315.29.

On the other hand, in view of another proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has been approved to buy 8 thousand metric tons of lentils through open tender system locally. The total cost of buying these lentils from Nabil Naba Foods Limited of Rajshahi will be 83 crore 12 lakh taka. The price of lentil per kg will be 103 taka 90 paisa.
