Avalanche kills 25 in eastern Afghanistan

International desk: 25 people have died in Nuristan province in the eastern part of Afghanistan due to continuous snowfall. 8 people were also reported injured. According to the administration, the death toll may increase.

The administration said that rescue operations have been increased. Snow has fallen almost everywhere in Afghanistan. Reports of collapse are coming from different places.

But there was a heavy landslide in Nakre village of Tatin Valley. 20 houses collapsed. People were buried in the rubble and snow. Jamiullah Hashimi, regional head of information and culture, told news agency AFP that rescue operations were underway.

The death toll may rise. Winters are always tough in Afghanistan. It's too late for snow. Government official Maulbi Mohammad Nabi Adel said, the bad weather is delaying the rescue work. It is still raining.
