One and a half lakh tons of onions and sugar will arrive from India before fasting

Economy Desk:  One and a half lakh tons of onions and sugar are being imported from India before the month of Ramzan, said State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam. He told this information to reporters in his room at the secretariat of the capital on Sunday afternoon. 

The Minister of State for Commerce said that a meeting was scheduled with the Commerce Minister of India on February 14. But the minister of that country is staying in Germany with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Due to this the date of the meeting has been postponed. But it is being finalized within this week. One lakh tons of refined sugar and 50 thousand tons of onion will be brought from India before fasting. 

The Minister of State for Commerce also said that the transport fare will be determined if necessary. In this context, he said, many times extra fare is charged for transportation. As the fare is fixed in buses, similarly in the case of transportation of goods, the fare will be fixed if necessary. So that the product price is correct.

Stating that there will be no shortage of products during fasting, the state minister assured the consumers that there will be no shortage of any product during the month of Ramadan. Oil and sugar prices are being determined next Tuesday. Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission has already worked on this issue.
