Discounts galore at trade fairs, overcrowded on holidays

Narayanganj representative:  A huge crowd of visitors was seen at the international trade fair in Narayanganj during the holidays. Many people have come to the fair with their families on holidays. There are many discounts on various products in the fair. 

This scene was seen by visiting the trade fair from Friday (February 9) afternoon. Many people have come to the fair for shopping as they have free time on holidays. The crowds of people at the mall stalls were palpable.

As usual, the main attraction for shoppers was around the stalls for clothes and kitchen goods. Also, the food stalls saw a throng of visitors.

There are some clothing brand stalls on the right side of the main part of the fair. Products are being sold at maximum 50 percent discount in these stalls. One of these is the fashion house Province.

This front part of the fair has some stalls of crockery, textiles and food. Among them, rice cookers, gas stoves and various household items are being sold at a discount of up to 25 percent at Gazi Group stalls. And up to 40 percent discount is going on at SKB Cookware stalls.

Various products are available at a discount of Tk 100 to Tk 700 in the textile stalls of the fair. For example, a bed sheet worth Tk 1,950 is being sold at Tk 1,750. That is, the discount is 200 taka. Desi brand Blue Sky is selling blazers at 50 percent discount on the occasion of the fair. Many other blazers and waist stores are also running big discounts.

According to the layout plan (revised) of this year's trade fair, the total number of pavilions, restaurants and stalls of various categories is 351 and domestic and foreign.

174 stalls have been allotted in 02 halls of 1 lakh 66 thousand 300 square feet area of ​​the center. There are a total of 62 stalls of premier and reserved categories along with pavilions of different categories on the east side of the main gate of the centre. There are a total of 35 stalls in the premier and reserved categories including category pavilions. Outside the main compound of the center, the center has a 6 acre land area with a large food zone (32 restaurants and mini restaurants) and some general and reserved category stalls (total number-62).

As always, Bangabandhu Pavilion has been constructed in the fair. Through this pavilion, the history of liberation war, independence movement and the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu in the freedom struggle, various aspects of Bangabandhu's colorful political life and ideology.

Apart from this, efforts have also been made to present the true history of the war-torn Bangladesh in the direction of development to everyone, especially to the new generation.

It is known that in addition to domestic products, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and other countries will participate in this year's trade fair. Textiles, machineries, carpets, cosmetics and beauty aids, electrical and electronics, furniture, jute and jute products, household goods, leather/artificial leather and shoes including leather products, sports goods, sanitaryware,

Toys, stationery, crockery, plastic, melamine polymer, herbal and toiletries, imitation jewellery, processed food, fast food, handicrafts, home decor etc. products are going to be displayed in the fair. Aims to find large market for export of domestic products besides product display.

Sufficient number of Police, Armed Police Battalion and RAB are deployed in the fair premises to ensure overall security of the fair and the safety of the visitors to the fair. Police, RAB regularly patrol the fair premises and outside the premises. Besides, private security guards have been appointed to maintain order at the service gate and VIP gate.

Considering the security priority, required number of CCTDs have been installed at various important places of the fair premises, entry gates, parking areas and all related areas.

Besides, required number of archways and metal detectors have been arranged at the entry gates of the fair. Similarly, the fire brigade is constantly engaged in the fair to prevent any kind of fire accident. Sufficient number of cleaners are engaged in round-the-clock cleaning in this fair. Sufficient number of men and women are separated in the exhibition hall.

There are toilets which are assigned male and female cleaners separately for cleanliness. Adequate number of toilets have been constructed outside the fair premises. Apart from this, more than hundred cleaning workers are engaged round the clock to keep the fair premises clean. Directorate of Consumer Protection has a separate booth for quality control of food products. Anti-adulteration operations are conducted every day during the fair by a team formed by law enforcement officers under the leadership of Nibai Magistrate appointed by the Department of Consumer Protection. Premier restaurants/premier mini restaurants have been allocated in favor of 12 establishments in the fair.

Besides, there is a cafeteria with 500 seats inside the exhibition center of the fair so that the visitors to the fair can eat quality food in a nice environment at affordable prices.

Meanwhile, the fair has the facility of adequate car parking. For VIP parking there is a built-in two-storied car parking building with parking facilities for over five hundred cars. Also, ample parking is provided on 6 acres of land outside the exhibition hall. A temporary secretariat has been set up at the fair for monitoring the overall activities of the fair.
