18 people lost their lives in a terrible landslide in Colombia

International Desk: At least 18 people have been killed in a landslide in Colombia. About 30 people were injured in this incident. Local authorities said that the incident took place in the northwestern part of the country on Friday. An official from the governor's office in Colombia's Choco department told AFP that several landslides had temporarily closed the road connecting Medellin and the cities of Quibdo.

Many people got out of their vehicles to take shelter in a house near the local municipality. Many people are killed in landslides during such times. Officials in the country say 18 deaths have been reported so far. Colombia's Vice-President Francia Marquez said on Twitter that about 30 people were injured in the landslide.

Jaime Herrera, mayor of Carmen de Atrato, told a local television channel that people were seriously injured in the landslide. Besides, many people are still trapped below. But he did not give any statistics.
