International Desk: 14 people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a passenger bus in India. Another 27 people were seriously injured in this incident. This incident took place in Dergaon of Assam state in the early hours of Wednesday (January 3).
According to police reports, a bus carrying 45 people collided with a truck in Assam's Dergaon around 5 am on Wednesday. The accident took place when the 45 passengers were on their way to Tinsukia's Tilinga temple for a picnic. The passengers of the bus started their journey around 3 am and before reaching their destination, the bus collided head-on with a coal-laden truck coming from Margherita at Dergaon.
The bodies of the 14 passengers who died on the spot were recovered and sent for post-mortem. Police reached the spot and rescued the injured passengers and admitted them to Jorhat Medical College. An official said that the condition of several of the injured is critical.
