International desk:  Ukraine has said that it has been possible to recover some more occupied areas almost 20 months after the Russian attack. For such success, the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky is insisting on rapid changes in the military. Meanwhile, Russia has yet to comment on Ukraine's claims of military success.

On Sunday (November 19), the Ukrainian army said that it was possible to liberate an area of about three to eight kilometers in one blow. In that campaign, the Russian troops were forced to retreat to the banks of the Dnipro River.

However, the spokesman of the Ukrainian military said that Russia continues to attack. Russia withdrew its troops from the west bank of the Dnipro in November last year.

According to the German news agency Deutsche Welle, if such success can be sustained, Ukraine may also move southward. However, military experts believe that it will require more troops and military equipment. There is also doubt as to whether such an effort is even possible in the coming winter.

Meanwhile, at the end of last week, both countries attempted to attack the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, and the capital of Russia, Moscow. But both sides claim to have foiled most of the attacks.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said a drone was destroyed on the outskirts of the city early Sunday (November 19). Ukraine says 15 to 20 Russian drones have been destroyed. On the other hand, Russia is demanding to destroy 31 Ukrainian drones.

Meanwhile, Kiev fears that Russia will launch a strong attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure like last year's winter. President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday night that Russia could escalate attacks to disrupt electricity and heat supplies. He called for the Ukrainian army to be 100 percent active despite all the problems and fatigue.

On Sunday, Zelensky demanded a quick change in the structure of the army. In the meantime, he has dismissed the commander of the army's medical unit.

Zelensky made this announcement after a meeting with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. In a speech at night, the President of Ukraine said, "We don't have time to wait for the outcome of the war, so we have to act very quickly."

Ukraine has not yet succeeded in recovering the occupied territories from Russia. On the other hand, Russia also could not occupy any new territory. As a result, many debates are going on at home and abroad about Ukraine's 'reciprocal military operation'. Many say that the international support and assistance to Ukraine is decreasing due to the lack of success in rescuing the occupied territories.
