
Brahmanbaria: A two-day holiday has been announced at Brahmanbaria's Akhaura land port on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja. Import-export trade through the land port will be closed today from Monday morning to Tuesday. However, despite the suspension of import-export trade between the two countries, the immigration authorities said that passengers with passports will pass through the immigration check post as usual.
Quoting Agartala Indo-Bangla Import-Exporter Association General Secretary Shiv Shankar Dev, Akhaura Land Port Import-Exporter Association General Secretary Shafiqul Islam said that the import-export trade activities between the two countries will be closed on Monday and Tuesday on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja of Sanatan religious people. The business leaders of Agartala in India informed the import-exporter and C&F agent business leaders of Akhaura land port through a letter.
The business leader also said that business activities will start again next Wednesday morning.
Hasan Ahmed Bhuiyan, in-charge of Akhaura International Immigration Checkpost, said that even though the trade between the two countries is closed on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, passengers holding passports of Bangladesh and India will continue to pass normally.
