Expressway collected about 22 lakh tolls on the second day

News Desk: More than 27,000 vehicles used the expressway on the second day of opening the Dhaka Elevated Expressway to the public. About 22 lakh taka toll has been collected from these vehicles. Dhaka Elevated Expressway project director AHMS Akhtar told the matter to Dhaka Post at around 8 am on Tuesday (September 5). He said, in the last 24 hours (from 6 am on September 4 to 6 am on September 5), a total of 27 thousand 121 vehicles entered the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. Out of these vehicles, 14 thousand 300 on the way from the airport to Banani, Mohakhali, Farmgate, 3 thousand 105 on the way from Kuril to Banani, Mohakhali and Farmgate, 2 thousand 944 on the way from Banani to Kuril-Airport and 6 on the way from Tejgaon to Mohakhali, Banani, Kuril and the airport. 1,728 vehicles have entered the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. Total toll collected from these vehicles is Tk 21 lakh 97 thousand 40. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the runway on Saturday (September 2) around 3:30 pm.

The next day, Sunday (September 3), the runway was opened to the public at 6 am. From then on Monday (September 4) till 6 am (first day), 22 thousand 805 vehicles entered the elevated expressway in 24 hours. A total of 18 lakh 52 thousand 880 taka toll has been collected from these vehicles. A few days before the inauguration, the bridge department issued a notification determining the toll of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. This toll will be applicable only for the first step. To use this section, the vehicles have to be divided into four categories and pay toll. The minimum toll has been fixed at Rs 80 and the maximum at Rs 400.
