I want our children to be engaged in sports, physical exercise and cultural activities besides studies.” He said this while addressing the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Sheikh Hasina Inter-Bank Football Tournament-2023 at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani area of the capital.KSRM He said, "Sports, physical exercise and cultural activities increase self-confidence, love of country and sense of duty and responsibility towards the country, besides keeping people happy." Sheikh Hasina said that her government is constructing mini stadiums across the country (upzillas) so that various sports can be played there throughout the year. He said that the government will take the initiative to build a stadium for football and other sports in the outskirts of the capital Dhaka. He said, “Now a stadium is being constructed for cricket in Purbachal.
We will take steps to build another stadium nearby for other sports including football. " The Prime Minister earlier enjoyed the second half of the final match at the stadium. Union Bank won the first tournament title by defeating Al-Arafah Islami Bank 2-1 in the grand final. He distributed the champion trophy and prize money between the champion team and the runner-up team. The champion team was awarded Tk 50 lakh and the runner-up team was awarded Tk 40 lakh. Besides, Global Islami Bank got Tk 30 lakhs and Social Islami Bank got Tk 20 lakhs for winning the third and fourth places.
