News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid special emphasis on the need for development of science and modern technology. The Prime Minister urged the Muslim Ummah to invest more in science and technology education of their children to bring back the lost heritage.

Addressing the chief guest at the 35th convocation ceremony at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) campus on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said, we need to invest more in the education of our children.

Pointing out that Muslims have enough resources, Sheikh Hasina said that these resources should be properly used for the development of science and modern technology to bring back our lost traditions. I believe we can do it. He also said that whenever I visit OIC member countries, I make this request to them.

The head of government said that in the golden age of Islam, Muslim scholars have made great contributions in many other branches of knowledge, including world civilization, science, history, literature, philosophy, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, astronomy and geography, which have built a glorious history of our Muslim tradition.

Sheikh Hasina also said that the Muslim scholars of that era dominated the world in culture, knowledge acquisition, scientific discoveries and contemporary literature. From that position, we need to analyze the reasons behind the current backwardness of the Muslim Ummah.

The Prime Minister said that internal conflicts among Muslim countries, lack of mutual respect and harmony, lack of knowledge and many other factors have led to the downfall of the Muslim Ummah.
